Knit Temperature Blanket

Temperature Blanket Class
Incudes pattern and instruction
Skill level:  Beginning (need basic knitting knowledge)

The basic idea of a temperature blanket is to knit a number of rows on a blanket each day for a full calendar year (or time-frame of your choice). The colors used each day correspond with the high temperature outside (see sample below).
Expectedly, the more colors in your palette, the more variance you get in your overall blanket. This blanket could represent the year past (mine was a “COVID” blanket), 9 months of pregnancy, last year of high school or first year of college.
The possibilities are endless, and completely up to you.

This modular design requires minimal finishing, which makes it the perfect project to pick up and put down as you like! You can also alter the pattern to be a wrap or a scarf. Fair warning though, this is an absolutely addictive knit!
The design is modern, fun, and colorful, and completely customizable!
You don’t have to decide how big the blanket is when you begin, just start knitting! There is NO SEAMING, since the columns are joined as you knit!
This pattern has instructions for fingering AND DK weight gauges.

  • Needles: Since this project is knit flat with a small number of stitches, double pointed needles, circulars, and straights are appropriate, so use your preference.
  • Gauge: Fingering weight gauge: 9 sts and 12 rows=1” on a US size 2 (2.75 mm) needle
  • DK weight (fingering weight held double) gauge: 6 sts and 10 rows=1” on a US size 5 (3.75 mm) needle
  • Suggestions for different size blankets, as well as wrap and scarf dimensions, are included in the pattern, but it is meant to allow you to use as much yarn as you prefer.
  • Suggested Yarn: Cascade 220 Superwash Merino -- 10% discount on yarn purchased in store!  Yardage 100 - 5000 yards (91 - 4572 m)
