Knitter's First Steek: A Simple Bookmark

Pattern will be provided for class participants by instructor.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Students will learn the basics of steeking through the making of a bookmark. Students will work swatches prior to class that will be used to learn a few of the basic steek reinforcement techniques. After learning these, the bookmark will be worked and will use a specific steeking technique.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Beginner/Intermediate. Must be comfortable with working stranded colorwork in the round. The focus of the coursework will not be colorwork so the students need have experience with this before.
REQUIRED YARN - available for purchase at the shop
Juniper Moon Patagonia Organic Merino
1 skein each of 2 high contrast colors (total 2 skeins). One variegated and one solid is also fine, but must remain high contrast.
REQUIRED TOOLS - available for purchase at the shop
US 5 (3.75mm) needles.
HOMEWORK - please make 2 swatches before the first class!
Cast on 20 stitches with your Main Color on US 5/3.75 mm needles.
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: Purl
Repeat these two rows until 16 rows have been worked from cast on. Bind off, weave in ends.
