Scarf in a Day - Weaving

Always wanted to try weaving but didn’t know where to start? In this lively, hands-on workshop you’ll use a provided rigid heddle loom to weave and finish a beautiful scarf in a single day. Perfect for curious beginners and experienced weavers looking for shortcuts and inspiration.
What you’ll learn:
Rigid heddle loom anatomy and how to choose the right loom
Direct warping (step-by-step — no warping board needed)
Tensioning, threading, basic weave structures, and beat
Finishing techniques, and time-saving tips
Troubleshooting common problems and pro weaving tricks
This class is for:
Absolute beginners curious to try weaving
New weavers seeking confidence and hands-on guidance
Intermediate weavers looking for practical tips and fresh ideas
What’s included:
Use of a 15” Cricket rigid heddle loom and all necessary tools are provided
What you need to bring:
scissors
measuring tape
a bag lunch (or visit nearby Edgewater Mall eateries)
a sense of adventure
2 skeins of worsted weight yarn (at least 320 yards total)

| Instructor Bio: | As a weaving teacher and a founder/co-owner of Lunatic Fringe Yarns, Michele Belson has helped thousands of weavers with their challenges since the early 90’s. She’s intimately familiar with the pitfalls and solutions to a ton of weaving issues.  Michele’s taught classes in warping, color theory, pattern drafting, and rigid heddle weaving all over the country, from Florida to California. She’s also written articles for Weaver’s, Handwoven, Shuttle Spindle and Dyepot, WeaveZine, and Heddlecraft.  She is passionate about teaching, and supporting every one of her students on their creative journey – whether beginners or experienced weavers, whether they weave on rigid heddle looms or 32+ shaft computer-driven dobby looms. |
