Created by blending alpaca, merino and silk noil, Terra is an impossibly soft aran weight yarn that is perfect for nestling against the skin. The subtle duotone shades that kettle dyeing creates work in harmony with the soft single ply to showcase the interplay of fibres and colour of this carefully crafted yarn. Terra draws together our greatest loves—colours inspired by nature’s palette and fibres selected for their natural beauty. Terra’s creation originated from our founder Daphne’s early work hand blending at the carding machine in her small mill in Maine. In pursuit of the softest and most luxurious feeling yarn, Daphne explored the way in which dye reacted to the different natural colours of various fibres. These early experiments in hand blending and dye work have informed our process at The Fibre Co. ever since.
